As part of the ongoing development for Night of Starless Skies, I’ll be traveling to various locations at their ideal times to find the perfect settings. For snowy landscapes, I’ll be exploring Oregon and Washington (possibly maybe another country for the snow too) between December and March. For desert environments, I’ll be heading to Southern California, Arizona, and New Mexico in the spring, from March to May. To find lush forests, I’ll be traveling throughout Oregon, Washington, and California during the summer months, from June to early September.
During these scouting trips, I’ll be conducting test shoots to evaluate the lighting and atmosphere of each location. I’ll also be taking notes on potential spots for creating large props, such as ruins, giant stone heads, and statues, to add depth to the scenes and whatnot.
I’m rewatching some of my favorite fantasy films, like The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Legend, and Pan's Labyrinth, to draw inspiration for the project. I’m also currently reading Beren and Lúthien by J.R.R. Tolkien to further immerse myself in the world of fantasy.
More updates will follow as the project progresses.
